A New Netflix Show Will Be Filmed in Calgary!

A new Western action drama, "The Abandons," has been ordered by Netflix, and it will start filming in Calgary this year!

The series has been in the works since November 2021, with at least ten episodes for the first season. This show will be executive produced by Kurt Sutter, also known for projects such as "Sons of Anarchy," "Southpaw," and "The Shield."

The official description of this new show reads as follows:

"As a group of diverse, outlier families pursue their Manifest Destiny in 1850s Oregon, a corrupt force of wealth and power, coveting their land, tries to force them out. These abandoned souls, the kind of lost souls living on the fringe of society, unite their tribes to form a family and fight back. In this bloody process, 'justice' is stretched beyond the boundaries of the law. The Abandons will explore that fine line between survival and law, the consequences of violence, and the corrosive power of secrets, as this family fights to keep their land."

No information is available about the cast, but the ACTRA website indicates that it will be filmed in "Calgary and surrounding areas" from June to November this year.

It is exciting that more productions are looking to Calgary as a filming destination. We'll update you when more information is available about the show!
